2. Budweiser Budvar Nealko

From the storied state-owned brewery in České Budějovice — the “original Budweiser”, and fiercely proud of it. Nealko is brewed like a proper Budvar — full lagering, Moravian malt, Saaz hops — then kept to 0.5%. Not Czech-brewed — Czech-schooled, and we’d rather be straight about that than sneak it past you. This UK craft take on the style is built from German malts and Czech hops: classic noble-hop character, light bitterness, a snappy finish. If you want the Plzeň template with modern craft polish (and a 440ml can), this is the one.

Any honest guide to Czech alcohol-free beer has to mention Birell — the nealko institution from the Pilsner Urquell family, brewed since 1992 and so ubiquitous in Czechia that it’s practically a category of its own.
