The Unhopped app takes everything we’ve built on the website — 235 reviewed alcohol-free beers from 20 countries — and turns it into something that learns your taste. It’s launching on iOS very soon. Here’s what’s coming, and how to be first in.
Swipe to rate — discovery that learns you
The Discover screen is deliberately moreish: a beer at a time, with its score, style, ABV and calories, and a simple choice — love it, pass, or save for later. Every swipe teaches the app your palate, so the beers it surfaces get sharper the more you use it. It’s the opposite of scrolling a flat A–Z list; it’s discovery that feels like a game.
Your taste archetype — your palate in a word
Rate a handful of beers and the app reveals your taste archetype — The Purist, the Curious Sipper, whoever you turn out to be — alongside a five-axis flavour profile scoring your leanings on bitterness, citrus, sweetness, malt and body. It’s genuinely useful: it’s how the app matches you to beers you’ll love, and it’s the thing our Taste Challenge competition is built around.
The Digby Tap — a community that cares about flavour
Alcohol-free drinkers are a friendly, curious bunch, and the Digby Tap is their corner of the app: share what you’re drinking, post tasting notes, and see what everyone else rates. No pile-ons, no noise — just people who’ve discovered that drinking less doesn’t mean drinking worse.
Quests & challenges — because rating beer should be fun
Work through quests like the Indie UK Trail or Hop Head by writing tasting notes, level up from Curious Sipper to Trusted Palate, and earn style badges as you explore. It turns building your palate into something you actually want to keep doing.
