Get the unhopped Digest βWhat is Brew Zero?
Brew Zero is Unhopped’s free browser-based brewery simulator: you start with £500, a stockpot and a lock-up with the rent due weekly, and try to build a cult alcohol-free brewery before the money runs out. It plays right here in your browser — no download, no sign-up, no account — and your brewery saves itself between visits. It’s made by Unhopped, the UK’s alcohol-free beer publication, which is why the beer in it behaves suspiciously like the real thing.
How do you play?
You develop recipes by pairing beer styles with ingredients — malts, hops and the occasional questionable extra — then brew them on a 40-case kit and decide what a case is worth. Every week the rent comes off the top, so pricing bravado has consequences. Brew well and reputation follows: awards, wholesale contracts with four tiers of buyer, beer festivals, and eventually a pub with your name over the door. Brew badly and there’s an overdraft, briefly. It’s a free browser game with no download, and a run takes as long as you let it.
Why did Unhopped build a brewery simulator?
Because after reviewing 230+ alcohol-free beers and profiling more than a hundred breweries, one thing kept standing out: the economics of small alcohol-free breweries are genuinely brutal and genuinely interesting. Tight margins, expensive kit, a public that needs persuading — it makes a better game than most fiction would. Brew Zero is our way of letting you feel that maths for yourself, one over-hopped batch at a time.
