About Unhopped

Unhopped is the UK's alcohol-free beer discovery platform. We catalogue, review and rank hundreds of non-alcoholic beers — with tasting notes, ratings, calorie and ABV data, and guides by style, country and occasion — so you can spend less time guessing and more time drinking something you actually enjoy.

Why we exist

Alcohol-free beer has come a long way, and the choice has exploded — but quality still varies enormously, and it's hard to know what's genuinely worth buying. Unhopped exists to cut through that: an independent guide to the best alcohol-free beer in the UK, built to help you find brews you'll love rather than ones you'll pour away.

How we rate beers

Every beer in our directory is reviewed and given a score, then ranked alongside others by style, country and occasion. Our ratings reflect the beer in the glass — they are never influenced by commercial relationships or whether a beer is available through one of our partners. If a beer isn't good, we say so.

The app

Alongside the website, Unhopped is building a companion app to help you discover alcohol-free beers and keep track of the ones you've tried and want to try next. It's currently in beta — you can join the TestFlight beta here.

Who's behind Unhopped

Unhopped was founded by Rich and is built and run independently in the UK. Here's his story, in his words:

I gave up alcohol in 2021. During the pandemic I'd found myself drinking a bit too much, and too often — my weight ballooned, and I wasn't being the best dad I could be.

At first I didn't touch alcohol-free beer at all. I couldn't find any I actually liked, and honestly I worried that drinking them might nudge me back into old habits and, eventually, back to alcohol.

It wasn't until around 2024 that I had my first non-alcoholic beer. By then there was so much more choice — not just in the supermarkets, but in independent off-licences too. And I realised it didn't take me back down that slippery slope; it just let me enjoy a beer again.

The idea for Unhopped came to me in late 2025. I wanted to make it easier for anyone else looking for great alcohol-free beer to find the good stuff — without the trial and error I went through.
