Alcohol-free beer at Lidl: Perlenbacher 0.0%, and what else to buy

Lidl’s own alcohol-free lager came top in a blind taste test this year. Here’s what we know about it, and what to buy if your store’s out.

The short answer

Yes. Lidl’s own alcohol-free lager is Perlenbacher 0.0%. It came top of twelve alcohol-free lagers in Which?’s blind taste test, published in April 2026, scoring 71% and winning a Best Buy, ahead of Corona Cero, Stella Artois and Heineken. Which? priced it at £3.29 for six 330ml bottles.

Which? found it in Lidl stores in April. Lidl doesn’t sell groceries online, and its website only shows the week’s offers, so you won’t find Perlenbacher 0.0% there: check the beer aisle of your local store.

Links to the supermarkets are ordinary links: we earn nothing from them. Links to Dry Drinker and Wise Bartender are affiliate links, so if you buy through them we may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. How we make money.

Lidl’s own alcohol-free lager is the reason to look in its beer aisle: a taste-test winner at well under a pound a bottle. If you want a cheap 0.0% lager for the fridge, pick some up with your shop. For anything hoppier or darker, you’ll want another supermarket or a specialist, and both are covered below.

£3.29 6 × 330ml Which? price, April 2026

Perlenbacher is Lidl’s own beer brand, and this is its alcohol-free pils. Lidl calls it Perlenbacher Pils Alcohol Free, and Which? lists it as Perlenbacher 0.0%.

In Which?’s blind taste test, 79 people tasted twelve alcohol-free lagers without knowing which was which. Perlenbacher scored 71%, the highest of the twelve, and was named a Best Buy and Great Value. Lidl says it was also Good Housekeeping Approved in 2024.

At £3.29 for six, it’s 55p a bottle.

Lidl doesn’t list it online, so the price in your store may differ from Which?’s April figure.

Taste tests depend on the panel. In our own reviews the lager we rate highest is Lucky Saint Unfiltered Lager (8.7), which Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons, Asda, Waitrose, Ocado and Co-op all sell.

If your Lidl is out: the cheapest alcohol-free lager elsewhere

Aldi’s own lagers are the closest match on price: Rheinbacher Pilsner 0% is £3.29 for six 330ml, the same as Which?’s Perlenbacher price, and Sainte Etienne is 69p for 500ml. For a big brand, Stella Artois Alcohol Free in Asda’s ten-pack was the best value we found at shelf price, and Tesco’s Clubcard Price on the same pack is lower still until 2 November.

The cheapest alcohol-free beer per litre, all supermarkets
Gold bars are Aldi. Shelf prices on each supermarket’s website, 9 October 2026, best-value pack. Shandies and mixed packs left out. Lidl isn’t shown because it doesn’t list prices online.

Want more than lager?

For IPAs, pale ales and stouts, these four are some of the best alcohol-free beers we’ve reviewed, and none is sold in a supermarket we checked. All were in stock for delivery on 9 October.

How we checked. Lidl GB doesn’t sell groceries online and its website lists only weekly lines; when we searched lidl.co.uk on 9 October 2026, it listed no alcohol-free beer. Perlenbacher’s result and price come from Which?’s taste test (14 April 2026), and its name from Lidl’s own press release of August 2024. We haven’t reviewed it yet. Scores come from Unhopped’s own reviews. Spotted a change? Tell us.
