Alcohol-free beer at Aldi: three beers, from 69p

Aldi’s alcohol-free range is small but cheap: two own-brand lagers and Guinness 0.0, in store only. Here’s what they cost, how they compare, and where to go for more choice.

The short answer

Yes, three of them. Aldi’s No & Low range lists its own Rheinbacher Pilsner 0% (£3.29 for six 330ml) and Sainte Etienne Alcohol Free Lager (69p for 500ml), plus Guinness 0.0 (£7.49 for six 440ml cans). Aldi doesn’t sell groceries online, so you’ll find them in store.

Guinness 0.0 is the best of the three by our reviews (8.1). Rheinbacher came joint fourth of twelve in Which?’s blind taste test this April, ahead of Heineken 0.0, and at £1.38 a litre Sainte Etienne is the cheapest alcohol-free lager we found at any UK supermarket.

Links to the supermarkets are ordinary links: we earn nothing from them. Links to Dry Drinker and Wise Bartender are affiliate links, so if you buy through them we may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. How we make money.

Aldi keeps its alcohol-free beer range short and prices it low. That suits a lager drinker who wants something cheap and cold in the fridge, and Guinness 0.0 covers the stout drinkers. For anything hoppier, you’ll need to look elsewhere, and we’ve listed the best options further down.

Guinness 0.0

Best alcohol-free beer at Aldi

Guinness 0.0 8.1

£7.49 6 × 440ml £2.84 a litre

It looks exactly like Guinness in the glass, with the same roasted barley, dry coffee and creamy head. A touch lighter in body than the real thing, so serve it cold.

Aldi sells it in a six-pack, which works out at £1.25 a can.

How Aldi’s prices compare

Aldi’s two own lagers are the cheapest alcohol-free beer we found anywhere. The cheapest big brand is Stella Artois Alcohol Free in Asda’s ten-pack, at £1.95 a litre; Tesco’s Clubcard Price on the same pack brings it to £1.70 until 2 November. Guinness 0.0 costs about the same per can at Aldi as at Tesco, which sells a four-pack for £4.99.

Want more than lager?

Aldi’s range stops at lager and stout. For IPAs, pale ales and the beers we rate highest, these four were in stock for delivery on 9 October. Or, if you’re doing a big shop elsewhere, Tesco and Morrisons have the widest ranges of the big supermarkets.
