Mash Gang Cheap Lager
By Mash Gang · UK
Mash Gang’s deliberately plain 0.5% lager: “No fancy new world hops, no crazy adjuncts, just a good, honest lager”, in Mash Gang’s words. It began as an experiment in making the cheapest drinkable lager. It’s no longer on sale at the shops we checked.
What is Cheap Lager?
Cheap Lager was a deliberately plain beer. Mash Gang’s trade listing sums it up as “Crisp, Fresh, Light...Cheap”, and its Untappd entry calls it an experiment “to make the cheapest drinkable lager”. Untappd puts the bitterness at 30 IBU.
Mash Gang hasn’t published the ingredients, the can size or a calorie figure, and we found no vegan statement for it.
Mash Gang no longer sells it on its own shop, Dry Drinker and Wise Bartender don’t list it, and we couldn’t find a UK shop selling it when we checked in October 2026. Mash Gang’s lager now is Glug, a golden cerveza-style lager. For a straightforward lager in stock, try Jump Ship Yardarm or Lucky Saint.

About Mash Gang
Mash Gang began in 2020, during the first lockdown, as a home-brewing project between friends, and it makes only alcohol-free beer. It has no brewery of its own: its beers are brewed to 0.5% with partner breweries, which have included Northern Monk in Leeds and Fierce Beer in Aberdeen, and from 2026 Hall & Woodhouse in Dorset. The non-alcoholic drinks company DioniLife has owned it since 2024. Its core range today is Chug, Glug and Journey Juice, alongside Lesser Evil, a cherry chocolate stout.
