Mash Gang Serpiente Tepache Pale Ale

A 0.5% pale ale inspired by tepache, the Mexican drink fermented from pineapple rind, developed with Cervecería Paracaidista of Mexico City. Mash Gang describes sour pineapple and spicy chilli over brown sugar and mixed spice, and suggests a dash of Tajín. It’s no longer on sale at the shops we checked.
What is Serpiente?
Serpiente goes back to Mash Gang’s beginnings. “Months before Mash Gang even had a name, our first home brew project was Tepache,” the brewers write: tepache is a Mexican home ferment made from pineapple rind. They met Adrian of Cervecería Paracaidista, a Mexico City brewery, in Chicago through the Pilot incubator project, which brewed Mash Gang’s beer for the US, and together they developed a tepache-inspired pale ale.
Mash Gang’s description promises “All the joy of a juicy IPA with the novelty of sour Pineapple, spicy chilli and a background of brown sugar and subtly mixed spice”, with BRU-1 and HBC 586 hops to “complement the fruit and spice”. Its serving tip: a dash of Tajín, the Mexican chilli-lime seasoning. Brew Cavern lists it as vegan.
Mash Gang no longer sells it on its own shop, Dry Drinker and Wise Bartender don’t list it, and the bottle shops we found it at, Brew Cavern and Raynville, had sold out when we checked in October 2026. About Mash Gang
Mash Gang began in 2020, during the first lockdown, as a home-brewing project between friends, and it makes only alcohol-free beer. It has no brewery of its own: its beers are brewed to 0.5% with partner breweries, which have included Northern Monk in Leeds and Fierce Beer in Aberdeen, and from 2026 Hall & Woodhouse in Dorset. The non-alcoholic drinks company DioniLife has owned it since 2024. Its core range today is Chug, Glug and Journey Juice, alongside Lesser Evil, a cherry chocolate stout.
