The story behind Estrella Levante Tostada
Toasted-malt lagers — tostadas — are a very Spanish tradition that barely exists in UK brewing, and Estrella de Levante’s 0.0 version is one of the most characterful zeros in the Spanish canon: pilsner, caramel and roasted malts giving toasted-cereal depth and a rounded, faintly sweet finish.
It comes from Murcia’s brewery of 60-plus years — founded 1963, German-written recipe, own maltings — whose alcohol-free heritage dates to 1996. For 0.0 drinkers bored of pale crispness, this is the easiest possible upgrade in flavour without touching the ABV.
