10 Alcohol-Free Beer Names That Should Be Comic Books

We spend a lot of time reading beer labels. And somewhere between the tasting notes and the ABV, we noticed something: half the alcohol-free shelf reads like a superhero roster. So we gave in. Here are ten real AF beers reimagined as the comics they clearly want to be — villains, sidekicks, cosmic turtles and all.

Every roster needs a Lord of the Underworld, and this one pours jet black with a foreboding tan head. Issue #1: our brooding antihero rises from the depths, sworn to bring darkness to a world of pale lagers. Spoiler: he’s actually quite nice once you get to know him. The brewery is literally called We Can Be Friends.
In reality: 0.5% stout with proper dark-beer character — chocolate, coffee and caramel notes. Read our review →

The cosmic heavyweight of the team. Wields the power of the Milky Way (and, being a milk stout, actual milk sugar). Gold-medal winner in the intergalactic beer awards, which in comics means it definitely gets its own six-film arc.
In reality: 0.5% gold-medal-winning milk stout (contains lactose, so not vegan). Read our review →

Some heroes hide behind a codename. This one just went ahead and put it on the can. Unfiltered, unpasteurised, and unbothered by subtlety — a caped juice-bomb rolling in from the Basque Country to save your Friday night.
In reality: 0.5% hazy IPA — juicy, unfiltered and unpasteurised, from the Basque Country. Read our review →

A haunted vessel drifts into Suffolk harbour, crewed entirely by… nobody. Perfect for a spooky one-shot special. The twist ending: the ship was alcohol-free all along, and everyone had a lovely time.
In reality: 0.5% pale ale — Suffolk brewery Adnams’ flagship NA pale. Read our review →

Look, we didn’t name it. But a Cosmic Turtle absolutely carries an ongoing series — part reluctant chosen-one, part very slow space traveller. Arrives just in time, roughly a decade late. Juicy origin story.
In reality: 0.5% hazy IPA — juicy tropical fruit, citrus and stone-fruit hops over smooth malt. Read our review →

Every lead needs a loyal sidekick, and Wingman is it: lighter, sessionable, always got your back for the second and third act. Will absolutely take a hit for the protagonist and crack a joke doing it.
In reality: 0.5% session IPA — light and sessionable, from BrewDog. Read our review →

Wraps itself in the flag, soars over the city, and delivers justice that is… clean, balanced and easy-drinking. Not every hero needs a tortured backstory. Some just need to be a really solid lager from York.
In reality: 0.5% lager — clean, balanced and easy drinking. Read our review →

The mystical guide who appears in Act Two to point the party toward their destiny (and hydration). Draws power from Scottish mountain water and cryptic one-liners. Definitely knows more than they’re letting on.
In reality: 0.5% crisp modern lager from Aberdeenshire, brewed with Scottish mountain water. Read our review →

No comic universe is complete without a shadowy organisation named after a snake. COBRA plots world domination from a volcano lair, foiled only by its own crisp, clean finish. Genuinely pairs well with spicy food, which is exactly what a supervillain would say.
In reality: 0.0% lager — smooth golden body, clean finish; pairs well with spicy food. Read our review →

The season finale. As the sun sets on the old world, one nitro stout stands between civilisation and total darkness. Cue the cascading nitro pour in dramatic slow motion. To be continued…
In reality: 0.5% nitro stout — a proper nitro-stout experience without the alcohol, from Siren. Read our review →

Every beer above is real, alcohol-free (0.0–0.5% ABV) and reviewed on Unhopped — the only fictional part is the superpowers. If any of these caught your eye, the tasting notes on each review are considerably more reliable than our plot summaries. Browse the whole universe over on the full beer list.
