The story behind Hele Lager
Õllenaut is part of Estonia’s quietly excellent craft scene — the Baltic corner of our directory that also supplies A. Le Coq — and Hele (‘pale’) is its clean-cut calling card: crisp malt, floral hops, refreshingly dry at 0.5% and 25 kcal.
It’s the sensible half of a wonderfully odd pairing: the same brewery makes one of the only smoked alcohol-free porters on the UK market. Between them they bracket the entire AF spectrum from a country most drinkers couldn’t place on the beer map.
