It's a bold experimental beer brewed at 0.5% ABV, stacked with chocolate, maple syrup, and vanilla adjuncts, and engineered to deliver dessert-stout indulgence without alcohol.
Appearance and aroma: Deep black with a thick tan head. The aroma is dessert-shop — rich chocolate, maple syrup, vanilla, a backbone of roasted malt. There's a sweet-leaning character to the nose that signals the high-adjunct recipe rather than a traditional dry stout.
Palate and finish: Full, thick body — Northern Monk have managed something most AF stouts can't: the genuine viscous mouthfeel that defines a good imperial stout. Layers of dark chocolate, maple, vanilla, and roasted malt run through the palate, finishing sweet rather than dry, with a lingering chocolate note. This is dessert beer, not session beer — sip it slowly.
