Lervig is one of Europe's leading craft breweries — a Norwegian institution from Stavanger whose No Worries series proves alcohol-free IPA can hold its own against the full-strength originals.

Who are Lervig?

Lervig was founded in 2003 in Stavanger, on the west coast of Norway, after the local Tou brewery's production was moved to Oslo and the townspeople rallied to keep brewing alive in the region. It was started by fund manager Kristoffer Stensrud, and in its early years it mostly produced pilsner as a substitute for the departed Tou lager.

The turning point came in 2010, when Lervig hired American brewmaster Mike Murphy. Under Murphy the brewery pivoted hard toward craft — bold New England IPAs like Tasty Juice and heavy imperial stouts that earned Lervig a place among the world's most respected craft producers. It exports a significant share of its beer, and in 2018 the US investment fund Orkila Capital (also a backer of Mikkeller and Omnipollo) took a major stake.

What makes Lervig different?

No compromise on the alcohol-free range

Lervig's No Worries series isn't a watered-down afterthought. The brewery brews it much the same way as its full-strength IPAs — the difference is a special brewer's yeast that can't ferment maltose, so the beer reaches a low ABV through the fermentation process rather than by stripping alcohol out afterwards. The result keeps far more hop character and body than most alcohol-free beer.

A serious craft pedigree

This is a brewery that has appeared on RateBeer's global top-100 list and whose full-strength beers are sought after by craft drinkers worldwide. When a brewery of that calibre turns its attention to alcohol-free, the results carry real weight.

Colourful, characterful range

The No Worries series is deliberately colourful and varied — a core IPA plus fruited variants and seasonal releases — so there's a flavour to match most tastes without ever feeling like a compromise.

The Lervig No Worries range

We list five No Worries beers: the flagship No Worries IPA, the No Worries Grapefruit IPA, No Worries Mango Pale Ale, No Worries Pilsner, and a No Worries Stout. The IPA is the place to start — hazy, peachy and soft, with a frothy white head.

Is Lervig worth trying?

Absolutely. Lervig is one of the strongest names in European craft beer making alcohol-free, and the No Worries range is among the most credible AF IPA series you can buy. If you've been let down by thin, hop-light alcohol-free IPA, Lervig is the antidote — the hop character genuinely survives the format.

Lervig: Norway's modern craft success story

Lervig was founded in Stavanger, Norway in 2003 by a small group of beer enthusiasts. The brewery has since grown into Norway's largest craft brewery and one of the most influential modern Scandinavian beer producers, building its international reputation through bold, imaginative beers — particularly stouts, IPAs, and barrel-aged projects. Lervig consistently appears on global craft brewery rankings and exports extensively across Europe and the US.

What Lervig is known for

The brewery's reputation rests on a few flagship products: Lucky Jack American Pale Ale (their longest-running export success), Konrads Stout (a Polish-style imperial stout that established their reputation in dark beer), and a constant stream of collaborations with international breweries. Lervig's brewing approach combines Scandinavian precision with American craft ambition, producing beers that feel polished without being safe.

Lervig's No Worries alcohol-free range

Lervig's alcohol-free range, marketed under the No Worries name, applies the same craft-led philosophy to NA brewing. We've reviewed the range in depth in our Lervig No Worries review — the short version is that it's among the strongest alcohol-free craft ranges available in the UK, with consistent quality across multiple styles. Pale ale, IPA, lager, and stout — all executed at 0.5% ABV with the same attention to detail as the full-strength range.

Where to find Lervig No Worries

Available through specialist alcohol-free retailers in the UK including Dry Drinker and Wise Bartender, through select UK craft bottle shops, and direct via Lervig's European distribution channels. The breadth of their UK availability is unusual for a Scandinavian brewery — most don't reach this many UK NA specialists.

Who Lervig No Worries is for

Best for: craft drinkers who appreciate the Scandinavian approach to brewing; anyone wanting a single brewery to explore across multiple NA styles; fans of full-strength Lervig wanting alcohol-free alternatives. See our best Norwegian alcohol-free beer guide for the broader Norwegian context.
